CONFIDENTIAL: An ombuds protects identities and the information shared, and is not compelled to share details of any conversation with the organization or employer.
INDEPENDENT: An ombuds does not represent the organization they work for, but exists to present solutions and guidance independent of internal or external forces.
IMPARTIAL: An ombuds does not take sides, but works to address issues in a way that allows everyone involved in a dispute to be treated fairly and in good faith.
INFORMAL: Visiting an ombuds doesn’t trigger a formal course of action often typical of HR or legal processes. Engaging with an ombuds is always “off the record.”
